The Bespoke Process

How much can I expect to pay?

The Kate Edmondson Couture Bridal experience starts at £3,950. This a fully bespoke service, which takes six to eight months to complete and is all overseen by Kate herself in her West London studio. We try to make the experience as enjoyable and consultative as possible – we understand that your wedding dress is probably the biggest clothing investment and single most important garment you will ever wear.

What’s the consultation process?

We start with an initial consultation to find out all about you, your wedding plans, your personal style and if you have any ideas for your dress. You might have Pinterest or a scrapbook, and we’d love to see those. We’ll chat through styles, underwear and budget and we will give you a quote. If you’re happy with that, we will take a 50% non-refundable booking fee and set to work!

Will I see a sketch of the design?

Yes, Kate will amalgamate your ideas and produce a few different design sketches for discussion and approval by you.  Once you have settled on a design, Kate will measure you to create your first calico toile.

What is a toile fitting?

This is the first mock-up of your dress – how exciting! Your first fitting will be in this calico toile, to ensure the design and measurements can be tweaked for the perfect fit. Your bridal underwear should be bought and worn for all appointments from here on if possible.

What about alterations?

Based on the toile fitting, alterations are made. When these are complete, you will need to attend further fittings to make sure that you are completely happy. Kate will advise you on this.

Will I have a final fitting?

This is the last time that you’ll be in your wedding dress before the big day. We make sure that everything is fitting perfectly, and we ask that this appointment is as close to the actual day as possible to ensure the best fit.

What about extras and accessories?

Kate can also make accessories, veils and headpieces to complement your look.
